DIY Grocery Store Christmas Lanterns

I love this next project because (almost) all of the “ingredients” are found right at your local grocery store.  The kids can help too which I always find a bonus.  Here’s what you’ll need:

1 package of ball mason jars

2 packages of fresh cranberries

1 big bag of sugar. (substitute salt if you prefer)

1 package of tea lights

Optional:

Twine

springs of evergreen (I used pieces we cut from our Christmas tree)

First fill the bottom of the mason jars with 1 cup of sugar (or salt if you have that instead).

Next, layer the cranberries on top of the sugar about 1 inch thick, then drop in the tea light. Make sure the wick is straight up and use a long stemmed lighter  when lighting if you can.  Lastly, use a bit of twine (or pretty bakers twine if you have that instead) and tie it around the jar securing a sprig of fresh evergreen.  Voila!

I decided to use these on our staircase but these would be beautiful on a mantle or used as a centerpiece on your table.  You could even use them as luminaries outdoors. 😉
