DIY Growth Chart
By far, my favorite part of the kids bathroom is the growth chart that I made from a scrap piece of wood I found above our garage. It was already painted white, so I simply used a sample container of Dolphin’s fin by Behr (get yours online today, on sale, for $1.94 and it ships free from Home Depot – can’t get any better than that!) some painters tape, and a tape measurer to tape off lines every 6 inches, measuring up to 6 feet. The first line was at 6 inches (taking into account the 6 inches I’d planned to hang it above the floor onto the wall). Once the paint was dry, I printed out numbers (get yours here free from www.jonesdesigncompany.com). Then I cut out the inside of the numbers and used the outline as a stencil. I lined the numbers up, grabbed my stencil brush and some black craft paint and briskly painted in the numbers. It’s important to take off the paper immediately after painting for a crisp edge on the numbers. And that, my friends, is all there is to it. Easy right?
Thanks for stopping by! And please don’t hesitate to ask any questions if you want to give this a try. :-).
Hi Kate! 🙂
What a great diy project, I love this.
I wondered what brand of stencil brush you use?
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Kimberley 🙂
Thank you Kimberley! My favorite brush is an ES600 Stencil-Ease (made in Germany). I’m sure you can find one at your local craft supply store ;-).
