Pinspiration Monday: Farmhouse Screen Doors

Love Farmhouse décor as much as I do? Well, nothing says “farmhouse” more to me than a squeaky screen door.  With nice weather on the way, (ahem, mother nature, if you’re listening, New England is still waiting on your beautiful flowers, leafy green trees…and temps above 50 degrees) I’m dreaming of open windows and warm breezes billowing in.  What better way to invite that lovely spring air inside than a new screen door.  I’ve seen a few at Home Depot and Lowe’s, but am blown away at how creative people have gotten on Pinterest!  Who knew making your own screen door was 1. Even possible and 2. Easy (and cheap) to do!? Sounds about right.  Lets take a look at what’s inspiring me this Monday:

There are so many things that I’m loving in this pic from Domestic Imperfection.  The color (Gray’s Harbor by Sherwin Williams) and the lovely farmhouse style of the door itself make the perfect combo. If you click on the source link there are step by step instructions on how to make your very own! Now take a look at those walls. I. Love. Shiplap.  I would dress every wall with the stuff if I could.  (For anyone who’s not familiar with Shiplap, its the horizontal planking that is seen in this picture, painted white) Stay tuned here on the blog and you’ll see how I’ve incorporated it in a few places already.  Last note on this one, it cost under $20 to make! Consider this added to my spring to-do list.

How welcoming is this? The color contrast and the warm glow of the lamp inside are so inviting.  It already feels like home.  I had thought of keeping my screen door natural or stained, but after seeing this, perhaps I’ll paint it.  Here’s another great example of a painted screen door:

Iced Tea anyone?  I think I could spend some time on this porch.  Those chippy green chairs are so happy and inviting too.  I can just hear the birds chirping.

Let’s just pretend that the corn stalks, pumpkins and other various fall décor are not flanking this screen door.  Focus on that gorgeous wood tone up against the white door casing.  Swoon!  I am LOVING white and wood combinations.  (Another element I’ve incorporated in our renovations that you’ll be seeing soon!)

Feeling inspired yet?  Who knew something as simple as a screen door could add so much charm to your home?  Stay tuned to see how ours turns out.  Thanks for stopping in!
