Shiplap in Little Man’s Room

If I can convince the Mr. that my crazy ideas decorating can actually save us money, it’s a win in my book.  So, when I told him that hanging the real deal, tongue and grove wood Shiplap could help insulate our son’s room (which tends to be the coldest room in our upstairs) keep it warmer… and ultimately save us some $$ on heat…he was right on board.  😉   Bingo.    Here’s a peek at the progress in little man’s room today:

The little man approves too.  He compares it to Grampy’s “pile of wood” up north.  (they live in a cabin). 🙂

We also (finally) got a real curtain rod to hang his curtains… they’d been hanging on curved metal rods, too short for their length, for longer than I’d like to admit.   I’m digging the stark contrast of the black rod against the white walls.

Now I’m just trying to decide if I should paint, stain, or just leave the Shiplap au-natural.  Since I’m your typical crazy, don’t-even-think-about-putting-VOC’s-in-my-kids-bedroom kind of mom… I’ve been researching natural stain for wood.  Have you heard about/tried any of these?  I am going to test out the apple cider vinegar/steel wool combo in the next few days and will be reporting the outcome soon thereafter.  Stay tuned!
