Kitchen Renovation Part 2: My Cabinet-Less Kitchen
Most projects are done in stages around here and our kitchen renovation was no exception. After installing the first set of open shelves I was hooked. It was almost inevitable that the others were going to get the ‘ol heave-ho. I let a few months pass though before deciding to take the plunge (convincing the husband that I didn’t need any upper cabinets). Indeed, it was a risk. But I’ll tell you, I haven’t looked back.
I now have beautiful light streaming in and a much larger, open feel without all the heavy cabinetry getting in the way. It even feels like I have more counter space now, and who doesn’t need more counter space I ask you?
Let’s take another look at the kitchen before just in case you missed it last week:
Notice how to the left of the windows it gets dark? There’s a deep dark corner under that corner cabinet that was just screaming for its debut:
Almost seems like someone turned a light on doesn’t it? Nope. Just a little demo, some leftover bead board and a few more shelves got this corner to say, “Oh hello there. Come sit, grab a banana and sip that cup of coffee over here.”
I actually don’t mind doing dishes any more because to my left I daze out loving my décor steals fruit baskets, then on my right pretty dishes sparkle in the sunlight. Yep, it might just be a happy place for me.
