The Breezeway: Part 1
I have had so much fun updating my childhood home this far and making this place truly feel like our own. This next makeover is of our entryway which has already worn a few hats. We call it the breezeway and it’s the most common used entry in our house. Inevitably, it becomes the dumping zone. We’re talking shoes everywhere, coats, hats, mittens, mud, toys, paint… you name it. It’s also where we’d stored the bar. Yes, it was jamb packed. Time for a change and organize the chaos.
The first wall that I’ll show today is where we used to store the bar. Here’s a pic of it before I painted on some outdoor paint and moved it outside. (side note, its holding up great so far – and we’ve had our fair share of rainfall).
Once it was relocated to the back deck, the whole room opened up. I moved some of the furniture around and here’s how it looks today.
I found this sweet little crock at a thrift store while visiting family at the beach. A little worn, but that’s just how I like it :-). And bonus, the Mr.’s old football number was 2 so he was right on board with the purchase. Win win in my book.
The small console table that holds the bouquet of fresh hydrangea was a yard sale find for $15. I couldn’t
get it in the car fast enough! :-).
The tiered coat rack was from my sweet Grammy, she was so thrifty and got it for free at the senior center.
The four picture frames used to be pictures of calla lilies that my dear Aunt Sheila handed down to me. Here’s how they used to look:
Just gave them a quick coat of Benjamin Moore’s Wrought Iron paint, added some burlap and glued on a few recent beach pics of my three little ones. Easy as 1, 2. 3. Speaking of paint, wall color is Benjamin Moore Rockport Grey and I had it color matched at Home Depot. (I think it’s slightly off but I’m still happy with the results. It’s a moody grey/mocha color).
The runner and the wicker basket are hand me downs from my mom. I’m loving how each element in this room reminds me of someone special. That’s what it’s all about right? Making your home a true reflection of you and the things that are meaningful in your life. 🙂
Have you changed the way you’ve used a room recently? I’d love to hear all about it! Let’s chat. Send me an email or comment in the section below if you wish. Thanks for stopping in.
