The Breezeway: Part 2
Remember how I mentioned this room is the dumping zone? To keep things organized, we designated this next part of the room as a place to plunk down and take off / put on shoes. I’d seen gorgeous hall trees and benches all styled to perfection on pinterest so, naturally I started brainstorming on how we could re-create the same look with things we already had.
We had a few remnants of my sister’s old swing set that she’d brought over to burn in our fireplace. (I’d snagged a few pieces, you know, just in case :-)). A few old fence posts we found when we uncovered some land in our back yard (more on that soon too), some left over bead board from our kitchen shelving project, and a few hooks from Home Depot were all the ingredients for this little DIY. The Mr. is just so creative! Ready to see how it turned out?
To style this piece I used three frames I scored for free at a yard sale, (and put in some pics of the kids on the beach) towels from Homegoods, hats gifted to the children from their grandmother, cotton bolls from www.thecraftoutlet.com and hooks from home depot. I used leftover white pant and brushed on a thin coat to the bench then distressed it with some sand paper. The basket holding the cotton bolls was one I already had, and I believe it came from my mom when we bought the house.
For just a few bucks and a little imagination we have a “Hall Tree” to plunk down, put on shoes, hang coats, or in this case, towels. :-). Thanks for popping in!
