Kitchen Update Part 2: Moving the Craigslist Hutch
I love to move things around from room to room making them seem “new” again. Even as a kid I’d move my bed from one wall to another just to get the feel of an entirely new bedroom. You should try it – you’d be surprised how a small change can recreate a space. Since we made room for my Grandfather’s barn door on this wall, we had to move the hutch. Here’s where it used to be:
And here’s how’s that same wall looks today:
We decided to move the hutch into the dining room by the farmhouse table:
It’s kind of funny, look where my mom used to keep her hutch… ;-). Great minds think alike mom!
Here’s another view with the lights turned on. I ordered these lantern (outdoor) lights for the kitchen island on eBay while I was waiting for my epidural for baby no. 3. :-). Perfect timing right?
Here’s a view standing in the dining area, looking back. It’s almost as if that half wall was just waiting for us to find Grampa’s barn door.
And a few more pics just for fun:
I moved the small pub table to the end of the island to add a little more seating in there when we have guests. I liked it so much I decided to keep it there. It adds a fun new dimension to the island, and another place to put things other than on the farmhouse table. :-).
Hope you enjoyed the update – thanks for popping by!
